Rijk Zwaan is a world leading, high quality, highly innovative international organization specialized in in the breeding, production and sales of vegetable seeds.
For our subsidiary in Ukraine we have a vacancy for a Trial Station Manager.
The Trial Station Manager will be working in our office/greenhouses near Mala Oleksandrivka focused on our vegetable varieties and planning and implement trials in our greenhouses/open field to evaluate the company's products. This role will assist the sales staff in providing growing and technical support of the products, set up demonstration trials in the company's greenhouses, work to create solid recommendations, keep everyone abreast of technical updates, etc. We are looking for individuals with a solid background in agronomics and doing vegetable trials. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must as he will be working closely with the sales team, managing a small team of seasonal workers and office guards as well as interacting with customers and farmers often. Personality and ability to build relationships with farmers and customers will be needed. He will be directly responsible for overseeing the recruitment of new seasonal staff, including its training and induction.
Self-motivation and drive are also critical for this role as it makes sure everything is completed in a timely manner and according to the company requirements/policies. We will need someone who is very hands-on in the approach to his work as he will be responsible for evaluating all the trials looking for any minute detail that may show a response to an application of a product. This role is for someone who loves being in the greenhouses/field and really getting into the details of the growing, research and observing the vegetable crops throughout the growing season.
The Trial Station Manager will be also responsible for maintaining the condition of the office premises and arranging for necessary repairs. He will manage and develop improvement of facilities and equipment purchases and where required assume overall responsibility for health and safety issues, policies and procedures. He should ensure compliance with national requirements in conjunction with the local management.
The ideal candidate would possess :
- An Agronomy of other technical Agriculture university Degree.
- Extensive knowledge of agricultural practices, vegetable plant life and development, and farming operations.
- Experience in putting out, evaluating and managing trials.
- Ability to interact with regulatory authorities, customers and colleagues regarding study/trial activity mainly in connection with regulatory compliance/quality issues.
- Ability to maintain records and inventories.
- Empathy and cultural sensitivity.
- Understanding of business processes and expense planning/reporting.
- Working knowledge of English language.
