The Aircraft Mechanic III /Lead performs the full range of UH60A/L Mission Design Series (MDS) aircraft maintenance and maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of complex to extreme difficulty.Maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.Apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.Make entries in aircraft logs and records, and responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.Plan, conduct, and supervise aircraft technical inspections.Compute basic weight and balance records.Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.Ensure compliance with aircraft configuration control, Army oil analysis Program and test measuring diagnostic equipment calibration.Provide lower-level technicians guidance in aircraft repair and technical inspection techniques and procedures according to directives, technical manuals, work standards and operational policies.Prepare evaluations, special reports, and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance repair and related activities.Perform other duties as requested.​Minimum Requirements:High school Diploma or equivalent required. military technical school or specialized training course is desired, certification of education level is required.Five (5) or more year’s aviation maintenance experience within the past six (6) years on the specific Mission design series UH60 A/L (MDS).Experience in maintenance, modification and repair of tactical aircraft systems of the specific MDS and their associated components.Valid FAA Airframe & Power plant (A&P) License is preferred.Must be in possession of a Passport and be able to travel internationally with minimum 6 blank pages and 2 plus year validity on expiration date of passport at the time of hiring.Must be able to obtain and maintain NAC-I clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain/maintain NAC-I Clearance.Previous experience with aircraft structural repair, modification, metalworking and corrosion protection treatment preferred.​Knowledge & Skills Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.Basic knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects and is required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by Mechanics.The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.Physical Requirements/Working EnvironmentMust be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.May be required to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, etc.Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.May work in maintenance shop or outside.
